New Celebrity Gossip Web Site Makes YOU the Paparazzi
Advertisment
Just like a fiery car crash, Dotspotter doesn’t let you look away.
Don’t deny it; you love celebrity gossip.
Whether it’s a certain female singer crashing her car while drinking…and breastfeeding her baby – or scouring the Web for pictures of an actress’s baby bump – you people just can’t seem to get enough!
Anthony Soohoo, a former VP at Yahoo! realized this and launched Dotspotter: a Digg clone for everything celebrity. And the public has already rolled out the red carpet – making the site an instant winner (it was just purchased by CBS for a cool $10 million).
The pairing seems a match given CBS’s on-air line up of paparazzi-style shows. Dotspotter’s online competition (TMZ, PerezHilton) has evolved into television programming, so this isn’t really a case of putting the cart before the horse – despite the high price tag for an online newcomer.
Like Digg, registered users can add stories, add a celebrity spotting on a map (oh jeez, a new tool for stalkers) and rank your favorite – or least favorite – stars.
If you’re a pop culture junkie, you finally have a community that you can call home. Bring out your inner-paparazzi, get the latest celeb scoop and then call everyone in your little black book – they’ll be sooo impressed!
Whoa! We have to wrap this up. We just heard that Gary Coleman and Paris Hilton are releasing a steamy video…
