YouTube looks to continue its video dominance with the release of a long-overdue and requested tool: a desktop uploader. With a simple download, Windows users can now upload several videos at once (Hold your breath Macs, your uploader is right around the corner). And better yet, the file size limit has been raised to a full gig. While at this time the length limit (10 minutes) is remaining the same, it’s clearly a move that will result in high-quality videos. The second implementation of this should result in longer length times. As users will want to archive their videos, it’s an inevitable move for YouTube if they want to stay at the top.

The next wave of online video appears to be HD. As recently as a few weeks ago, Vimeo, which has been in the online video game since 2004, opened its doors for HD video.

According to YouTube, it can currently take over 30 minutes for large files to appear on your page.

The upgrade comes on the heels of a tweak that improves the site’s flagging system - making it more consistent. The major change is that flagged videos will be reviewed by real-life human beings, revealing if the flagging is warranted.
