adobephotoshopexpress.jpgNow that the hype has died down a bit. And while everyone is probably busy playing around with the recently launched Adobe Photoshop Express beta, it’s about time that we focus a bit more on the social networking/sharing aspect of the toned down web version of Adobe’s highly popular image/photo editor – Photoshop.

adobephotoshopscren.jpgAdobe Photoshop Express is a great Rich Internet Application utilizing Adobe’s powerful interactive Flash environment to deliver an equally powerful online image editor. Actually, it does succeed in coming up with an online image editor. There’s no question about that. The Flash 9 answers users need for a robust web applications that loads fast and quickly.

But lest we all forget, Adobe has launched the Photoshop Express not just as an online image editors but also a photo sharing site. It may not be as grand as Flickr or Photobucket, but hey, it does delivers the goods efficiently. I mean, how useful would be that right after you edited your snapshots, you can immediately share with your friends and family?

Adobe Photoshop Express’ enables user to create their own Express profile where they can download up to 2GB of photos. Hopefully, Adobe increases it some more in order to compete with other online photo sharing/uploading sites.

But as it is, 2GB of storage limit would be more than enough if you don’t shoot on RAW but rather on JPEG. And it’s more than enough to make you master online photo editing using Adobe Photoshop Express.

In brief, Adobe Photoshop Express lets you create a profile, upload images and photos into your account, edit those photos, and share it with your network of friends and family. Once you create your photo gallery, you can let others view it and leave their comment regarding the photos. And another useful feature of Adobe Photoshop Express which makes it worthy of being classified as a web 2.0 apps is its direct connection to Facebook, Photobucket and Picasa. This lets you pull photos from those sites for editing through Photoshop Express.

Overall, despite the negative publicity that the Photoshop Express Online has been getting (re TOS), the online photo editor is still a great RIA. And I could see myself using it more often not just for image editing but for social networking as well.
