Previewing 5 Orkut applications

Don’t look now but mySpace and Facebook are just not the social network which are benefitting from the “OpenSocial” phenomenon. Google’s very own social network, Orkut has been getting some pretty good applications from third party developers as well. Here’s a little sneak preview on some of these Orkut applications.
myHangman - ok, don’t mind the app’s title. This application bring’s the classic game into the Orkut platform. You can choose a topic from the existing list or create you own topics. You can also create your own game and challenge your friends to play against you. Soon, real prizes will be at stake as well.
ReadingSocial - lets you catalog your past and future reading.This is Orkut’s take on independent book niche social networking site such as Shelfare and LibraryThing. It lets you track of the books you read, or remind you of the books that you are planning to read. You can also see book recommendation from your friends. ReadingSocial is a tool for creating your virtual bookshelf on the Orkut environment.
Viibee - speed dating maybe in, but video dating is pretty cool as well. Instead of reading potential date’s profile, Viibee will let you watch them sell themselves.
iRead - one of the web’s most popular vibrant community of book lovers comes to the Orkut environment, bringing with it nifty features such as; facility to create your virtual bookshelf, browse what your friends are reading, and what they read in the past including their comments on those books, discover new books.
go4it - a goal setting application which lets you reach your goals no matter how big or small they are. With a little help from your friends, you can create projects or objectives and share them with your friends. That way, you’d get instant opinions and comments that could help achieve your goals.
