Where’s the best place to live? It all depends on you!  That’s one of the reasons I always hate those Money Magazine lists.  Since house shopping is such an individual activity, and everyone has a different set of criteria, it’s hard to find a match.  That’s where Hoodeo comes in.  A self-proclaimed ‘neighborhood matchmaker,’ the Website aims to help consumers determine which neighborhoods suit you best. The matching starts bu having you fill out a very basic two-minute questionnaire.  The questions ask whether you’re looking for kid-friendly towns, if you want to be urban or rural and what your annual household income is.

I found the results to be quite limited.  Considering I’m searching for a home around the New York City area, I was surprised at the limited results.

At this point, you can search for homes in that area using Trulia’s map-plotting system.

I think the initial questions are too limited.  The site would work better if users were able to rank the areas that are important to them.  From school spending to demographics to weather, searching for a house is complicated business, and Hoodeo might have oversimplified the process.

Matches can be shared with friends.

The site is run by the folks behind eppraisal, a Website that offers an ‘automated value range’ on properties of interest.

Coming soon: the ability to save matches, connect with real estate professionals as well as other users who have similar profiles, and contribute to neighborhood and community information.
