Farmfoody is Your Sustainable Social Network
We gotta to give it to Farmfoody’s ideas and mission for coming up with a “sustainable” social networking site. Farmfoody states - “We believe social networking can bring independent farms and people together to restore balance in our agricultural system. In the past, farmers and their customers were centered around small towns where they interacted directly with each other in a transparent and sustainable way. We see social networking as a new way of interacting with independent farmers and supporting sustainable agriculture. We believe social networking can help the small farm survive and thrive in a big agriculture world.”Of all the social networks that I’ve covered here in Rotorblog, this is the first time that I’ve encountered a social network for farmers, farms, gardens and better yet on the goal to attain a sustainable agricultural practice. Don’t you just love the way social networking/web 2.0 has conquered every phases of the society? I do, really.
Anyway, Farmfoody as a social networking and community site operates on the dictum of connecting you to farms and gardens. As a social networking site it offers various tools including personalized maps, bulletins from local farms, interacting and meeting new friends, and even sharing recipes. It regularly features a particular farm where you can find chemical-free produce which you can use for your own domestic consumption. And you can use its search engine as well to locate farms all over Virginia who have signed up to Farmfoody.
To register an account at Farmfoody, you can choose between a farm account or a Foody account. The former are for farm and vineyard owners, PYO, Farmer’s Market, CSA or a local producer, while Foody account are for customers, chef or everyone else who wants to make friends with a farm or another foody.
Alright, I guess it’s time to live a healthy lifestyle folks. Farmfoody could be the start of our exodus to a McDonald’s-free daily diet.
