The search for a social networking site that both fit parents and protects their kids continues. This time we have UpToUs, a new social networking site which allows parents to create their own groups of trusted parents to socialize and share their experiences with their respective kids, ages 3-14.

UpToUs promises to provide a secure virtual place for parents to connect. Knowing fully well that kids are most vulnerable to attacks when they are online, this site aims to facilitate and strengthen communication among members parents, their childrens’ classrooms, sport teams, scouts troops and other local and recreational groups.

UpToUs offers the built-in applciations, all aimed at helping us parents in creating a virtual community for happy parents and safe online community for our kids:

  • centralized calendar
  • Volunteering organizer
  • homework panel
  • photo sharing
  • forms exchange
  • potluck organizer
  • snack scheduler

Aside from these applications, UpToUs also lets you search, add and review enrichment programs, tutors and other services in your area. Another great feature of the site is a Parenting Blog where you can read interesting articles, tips and advices on parenting.

Signing up in UpToUs takes only a few minutes and once you’ve created your account, you can immediately create your own groups and start inviting your fellow parents to join you.

UpToUs seems to be a pretty useful sites and for parents who are hesistant in joining the socialnetworking bandwagon might actually like the idea of closed-membership social networking site such as UpToUs.
