MySpaceID Becomes More Friendly
Advertisment
Finally, MySpace woke up from slumber and launches enhancements to its MySpaceID product. In case you may have forgotten already or unaware at all, MySpaceID lets any website to access MySpace’s social graph. Meaning, you as a MySpace user can link your MySpace profiles, friends, and other activities on the site to any websites. But a more important part of this announcement is MySpace’s integration to the new Yahoo homepage which is curently under closed private beta testing mode.
Interestingly, the integration of MySpace social stream into the new Yahoo homepage gives MySpace something to compete with Facebook while Yahoo with Google. Facebook has Facebook Connect while Google has Google Friend Connect. Both service offers an open sociability to their sites. This is something which both Facebook and Google could not simply do. And it is very clever for MySpace and Yahoo to have done it this way.
Going back to the MySpace OpenID, we are given with the following three new features:
- MySpace Activity streaming to any websites
- Easy Authentication through the integration of OAuth and OpenID into MySpaceID, enabling you to securely login to any website that uses MySpaceID using your MySpace credentials
- Developer Resources – The new MySpaceID workflow makes it easier for developers to create and manage their applications. It streamlines the build process and makes configuring an application easier than ever.
and pretty soon you can also start publishing content from on your MySpace site from MySpace partner sites.
