When I first heard about twitter lists, I was very excited and thought it would change the way I see my tweets. But to be honest, I haven't even used twitter lists and really don't see the point, for me. I understand if you categorize and like to see tweets from a group of people, but I am just interested in the “livest” feed possible. I have about 360 follows and the people I would want to see tweets from in the list function tweet so commonly that they are always in my live feed.

Very nice article that should remove any fear of working those lists. There is great flexibility in the list function since you do not have to follow someone to list them – a big plus. Meeting others via a trusted friend's list is also powerful stuff. Sort of an endorsement, since you know your friend doesn't roll with spammers and the like.

Hi Ching,

I use HootSuite to track my Twitter lists and that makes it much easier for me. Now that TweetDeck has integrated lists, we should see a huge surge in list activity.

9 Reasons to hate it would be:
Less people will see your Tweets
One more thing to organize
You might find yourself on lists that you didn't want to be on, but have no control of
You might miss Tweets that you wanted to see
You are forced to look at different lists so you know you didn't miss anything
It may not even work well....you know how Twitter is always throwing around that whale.
It becomes easier for others to find you as a potential customer
It will encourage spammers to join and create as many lists as possible.
Obama will not actually use it.

Thank you for your comment. In point 4 I was referring to the 2k following limit that Twitter has fixed for those who do not have enough followers in order to past through that gap. I did not complain about it but instead, offering a suggestion for those who wish to follow quality tweeps but unable temporarily (with good reasons of course, not for spamming purposes). A friend of mine was having this similar problem, following close up to 2k with 1.5k followers. In order to follow more people he must either wait for his followers' count to reach 2k or drop somebody in the following list. Because he treasured the connection he made, he refused to drop anyone — and that's due to relationship building. Thanks to Twitter Lists, at least he has an alternative for this problem.

4 and 5 seem to contradict each other. In 5 you talk about the ever fabled “relationship” building. Yet, in 4 you complain about the 2K follow limit. To be frank, if someone is hitting 2,000 follows a day, they are not relationship building. That is whoring. Why else are there so many spammy DMs? Because people follow without a condom.
