mog_allaccessWhen a product delivers what it promises, and exceeds your expectations, why on earth would you consider replacing it?

As a long-time Rhapsody subscriber, that’s exactly what I find myself asking as I read about the launch of MOG, a pay online music service that touts itself as being better than iTunes, Pandora and the aforementioned Rhapsody – combined!

At its core, MOG, with the backing of all four “major” record labels, lets you access a monstrous collection of songs – both mainstream and independent. Millions of tunes!

A pop-up window plays songs.  And unlike Pandora, there are no skip limits or advertisements when tuning in to MOG radio.  Pick an artist you like and then decide how much of their music you want in the mix (range from 10% to 100%).

Similar artists are recommended throughout the experience and songs you dig can be added to your library with a single click.

The social aspects of MOG will be appealing to those who love to talk music, make recommendations and play Master DJ.   It’s simple to share songs on Facebook and Twitter.  Smooth streaming spanks MySpace music, which, by the way, is in need serious need of some overhauling.

Head over today and try the service for free for an hour – you don’t even need to input your credit card number.  After that, you will pay $5 a month ($25 for six months!) for the service, less than half of what I’m currently paying for Rhapsody.

Hmmm, maybe I should reconsider after all.
