Of course having these features enabled on your Gmail account saves you the trouble of visiting the links to view those videos, photos or links. Now you can immediately determine whether you should check those links or complete skip it and go on with your other tasks.

Like all the other Gmail Labs features, to activate this on your Gmail, just go click on the Labs tab under Settings, and enable the feature.

Hopefully, Gmail preview would include other content sites that is usually attached on Gmail messages aside from YouTube, Picasa, Flickr and Yelp.

KillerTweets – offers some of the coolest Twitter backgrounds. When we say cool we mean, the gothic-artsy-kind of cool. And it’s relatively cheap as well at $9.

My Tweet Space – the site is a cool branding service for your Twitter profile, offering cool themes and Twitter profile badges for free. If you want a highly personalized Twitter profile promoting your product or brand, you have to pay a minimal amount.

Twitbacks – offers free Twitter backgrounds/themes but contains a small Twitback branding logo which can only be removed if you pay $4.95.

Twitter Backgrounds – an excellent place to download free images from a huge collection of wallpapers, for use as a Twitter background. Provides you with the best collection of backgrounds, themes and wallpapers for Twitter divided into several categories to make it easier for you to find the cool Twitter image you’re looking for.

Pretty Tweet – lets you design your own Twitter background/theme using the site’s Visual Designer for Twitter themes.

Custom Twitter Background – offers a paid service for customizing your Twitter background – $67.

Tweetstyle – offers a couple of free backgrounds that you can use on your Twitter profile aside from the paid customized Twitter background service. The site also has some good tutorial on how to change your Twitter background and other useful Twitter-related blog posts.

Twitter-Backgrounds – a new site offering some good collection of Twitter backgrounds which you can also use for MySpace and Friendster profile.

Custom Twitter Background – offers paid service for creating customized Twitter background and avatars. Prices range from $68 to $78.

What if I told you I designed the simplistic look found on Google.com. Would you believe me? Probably not. But nothing would stop me from making that claim on my resume.

A new Website, WhoBuilt.it, hopes to be the solution to the problem. The tool lets you claim a site through a simple registration process where you must provide your birth name and e-mail address.

Recently claimed Websites appear on the site’s homepage.

The site is a no-brainer for anyone who builds/designs Websites. Why not get credit for your hard work> It’s not about bragging, it’s about protecting your professional integrity.

New features WhoBuilt.it plans to add in the near future include:

The site accepts OpenID.

Voicetag also makes it simpler to leave send a voice message to your Facebook friends. All you need to do is to choose the Facebook contact you want to send a voice message to, then add an optional text message and then enter your own phone number. After a while Voicetag will call you on the number you specify and you can start recording your message.

Voicetag’s Facebook application will then send an alert to your friend notifying them of  the voice message you sent. They can play the Voicetag from their Facebook Profile.

In addition to this, Voicetag also lets you leave a voice message to Facebook groups SMS message sent to Voicetag. The same procedure will be followed – that is Voicetag will call your number and then you can start recording your message.

As this involves mobile network time, Voicetag would definitely put a price tag on this service soon. Lucky for us now, the service is still free. So, you better try out the service and start sending those holiday cheers through your own voice message.

FriendFeed Embed Badge – Finally, you can now embed your FF profile badge to your own blogs and websites. Of course, you all know how useful this profile badges are when it comes to letting your readers connect to your FriendFeed updates. Although the default FriendFeed badge looks cool with the standard FF blue theme, some of us would still love to have the capability to customize our FF badges to suit the look and feel of our blogs/sites. Fortunately, FriendFeed allows us to do this, although I would have to say that it would have been better if this is done without touching on the CSS codes. Some who are not familiar with CSS may find this difficult to do, although FriendFeed was generous enough to offer a page explaining how to do this. Hopefully, in the future, FriendFeed would make profile badge customization easier. Here’s my profile badge as an example of how cool this FriendFeed badges are. You may click on the badge to add my profile to your FF list of friends. Other FriendFeed widgets available include:

ShareOn FriendFeed Link – Embed this link to your specific blog posts to let your friends and readers share them on their specific FriendFeed updates

Feed Widget – Lets you share your feed on any site! Embed your feed or a room’s feed on your website or blog with the feed widget. I was actually trying to figure out how to do this a couple of days ago and I couldn’t make it work in my site. Fortunately, FriendFeed seemed to have read my mind and make this feature easy to implement. You can specific which part of your FriendFeed updates you want to feature on this Feed Widget, and you can also specify the number of feeds to display.

Chiclet Widget - This is the eye-candy chicklet that lets you connect your blogs’ readers to your FriendFeed account. It’s a pretty simple widget and all you need to do is to copy and paste the code into your respective sites/blogs.

Status Widget – This widget displays your most recent status messages on your FriendFeed account.

Overall, these widgets add more use and value to the FriendFeed lifestreaming service. Gradually, FriendFeed is establishing itself as a force to reckon with in the Lifestreaming niche, and possibly emerging as the top one at that.

Picreflect is a neat little Website that can add a new dimension to your blog.  Actually, a new reflection.  If you have 10 seconds and a digital photo, you can add a reflection.  All you have to do is indicate the following:Height of reflection
Percentage of transparency
Final picture size
If you want the photo flipped
Rotation
Background color

Just like magic, you’re Bob Ross (the late, great PBS painter)!  You can download your enhanced image and use as desired.

The Website is clutter-free without and annoying ads.

The more people view your profile, the higher your chances of becoming the most popular MySpace member.

Last time I redesigned this blog in 1st May last year when blog turned one year old. It was also important because I participated in 1st may reboot event and we, together with other Latvian bloggers, had pretty interesting and notable local event/party. After that I decided to redesign Rotor every year in 1st May as we thought to stick to this tradition and redesign our websites together with others all over the world. But now you can see I have changed my mind and launched new design already.

There are several reasons why I did this. First one is that the previous design was old. Yes, I didn’t like it anymore and I wanted to come up with something new to add more solid look to the blog.

Second reason is that I redesigned Rotor last year because of 1st May reboot event. This event, I think, was pretty important to the Latvian blogosphere and I wanted to participate. So, this weekend we have one much more important event – BarCamp Baltics 2008! So, I decided to launch new design right now and dedicate it to the Barcamp event as I think the event will be just great and will shake the web industry people in this region. I will try to write couple posts about what’s interesting will happen here these days in Riga so stay tuned!

It seams like the number one player in the field right now is Love My Flash that offers high quality flash layouts which are highly popular between MySpace users. But what’s interesting that there is no other sites that actually offer flash layouts – oops, no! There is one here. But it looks like that’s it. Does anyon know some other sites?

Known as Personas, Firefox is attempting to streamline the process of finding and installing themes. With the new addition graphic designers can stylize the browser experience without the need to know code.

The ability also exists to include items such as HTML, CSS, PNG, JPG, SVG, Javascript and Canvas.

Will browsers ever become more than desktop software? Mozilla certainly hopes so and continues to pave the way with online components such as Personas.

Other Personas features include on-the-fly updates as you create and edit as well as the ability for designers to make changes and/or updates without having to update any software.

For folks who want their Web surfing experience to be a bit more fun and personal, Personas are worth checking out. These designs that “skin” the Firefox Web browser are sure to brighten your day.

Photoshop might be the photo manipulation leader, but with a high price tag and slow load times, what could be better than a free and fast alternative? FlauntR’s PhotoStylr offers thousands of free one-click effects, including fancy frames and funky filters.

Now you’re probably wondering why should you share your ideas and make someone else even more money. According to the site, much of the data they collect will be communicated to the original designers and producers. How this is facilitated is not clear.

Among the site’s uses: Inventors can get ideas (steal?); companies can receive feedback on products (focus group); be entertained by other people’s gripes and ideas – and submit your own.

The site is hoping they can generate enough interest to get investors’ attention. Will crowdsourcing really have an impact on products and their designers? That remains to be seen, but for now you can vent about that confusing advanced doorbell system or suggest ways to make ATM machines operate faster.

As for me, I’m still waiting for a machine that will write these blog entries for me!
