Displays the number of unread messages so you can always be notified whan you receive new emails and give a quick response. If you click on the icon it also gives you a short insight on who writes you and you can take a little peek into the message. [Install]

Wave

Very similar to the Gmail extension – displays the number of unread waves. Although you can’t take a peek  on the wave clicking on the icon how it is with the Gmail extension – hope to see this functionality in the future. [Install]

Reader

Get your reader to the Chrome too and be notified when new articles pops up from your favorite sources. Clicking on the icon will bring you straight to the reader where you will be able to dig trough the resources. [Install]

PDF to Google Docs

Great extension which allows you to open any pdf file you find online open using Google Docs. You probably asking why it is a great deal, well – there is no need to install Adobe Reader on your computer, just use Google online app for that. [Install]

Tasks

Very easy to use extension dedicated for those who use tasks. It enables/disables the visibility of the tasks panel straight form the Chrome browser clicking on the icon. Btw if you still don’t use tasks it is a great way to manage things around you. [Install]

Translate

Great extension which allows you quickly translate selected text without going to Google Translate page. It is already one of the most popular extensions and many users love it because on the simplicity of the tool. [Install]

Quitting on Twitter Lists is not an option especially if you have goals to achieve in social networking. Instead of wasting your time, you can easily earn back the benefits with a regulated and manageable Twitter account. Each offers increased exposure with paid upgrades and most require free registration. Here are a few of the better FREE press release Web sites.

1) PRLOG

Within one week of submitting my press release, I began showing up on the first page of Google search results when looking for my Web site’s key words. Basic HTML is accepted, including three links. Press releases can easily be embedded on Websites and a PDF version is available for download.

Only the portion after “@” of your e-mail address is displayed. That means you can’t really use a non-business address (Gmail, Hotmail etc.) or your release will carry much less weight and potentially look ‘fishy.’ Press releases are ad supported with a million links framing your release. This makes the core text a bit difficult to read. (sample release)

2) I-NEWSWIRE

This service does not accept HTML coding but you can set up a company profile that includes a single link to your homepage. You must include a business address (which I don’t think is vetted by a human being) and a phone number. It’s simple to share your release on dozens of social networks and tags are easily found and identified. There is also valuable content such as Top 10 Rules for a successful submission. 3) FREE-PRESS-RELEASE

Like most of the sites on this list, free releases are supported with Google Ads. But these guys also use Kontera in-line text ads, which, let’s face it, are somewhat distracting. HTML is not permitted and text ads show up in the middle of the release, which can be misleading to readers. Press releases can be e-mailed to friends and ad-free print-friendly functionality rounds out the site. You supply an e-mail address and messages are forwarded to you via a Free Press Release form. 4) CLICK PRESS

Google News and MSN News are targeted via this free release site. There are no hotlinks allowed. Many of the ads that appear on free press releases are visual, which looks cluttered, but it does make it easier to differentiate what is an ad and what is part of the release.

5) 1888PRESSRELEASE

1888PressRelease.com says they offer a free release, but after registering and reviewing their pricing grid, I’m not sure what free really gets you.

6) OPEN PR

Companies may create up to three releases per day, with each reviewed and potentially edited by a human being. No HTML. Full postal mailing address is required for release.

CONCLUSION

The major problem with these sites is not that they are ad supported – but how the contextual ads are displayed. In many cases, they make it impossible to differentiate between internal and external links, making it very important that you pay attention to what you are doing, because you can easily be led away to a paid press release Website.

When you use free tools you get what you pay for, and in this case, each site provides a useful service to smaller businesses and independent Website owners who do not have the budget of PRWeb or other paid press release services.

To make my Google Wave exploration useful, I decided to look around for Wave gadgets that I can use, and actually found a handful of them.   So here goes, 5 Google Wave Gadgets that you will most likely use.

Twitter

You knew this is will be my first useful gadget right? It should be, well at least for me. This gadget gives you your Twitter’s public timeline as a wavelet. Unfortunately, it does not allow you to post tweets, reply to conversation directly on Twitter. To activate this gadget just add tweety-wave@appspot.com to your contact list.  It will authenticate your Twitter account the first time you use it.

Amazon

This gadget lets you search for products on Amazon’s various product category. It’s the best looking Google Wave gadgets I’ve seen so far. And the Amazon bot works fast t00. To add this gadget, just add amazon-withwaves-com@appspot.com to your contact list.

Eliza

If got bored while exploring Google Wave or you’re contacts are not sending you waves, you might find Eliza useful. Yup, it’s the auto-chat bot who is also an auto-shrink. Common, talk to her if you must. Just don’t ask too many complicated questions. To add Eliza to Google Wave, just add elisarobot@appspot.com. Have fun!

Starify

This gadget lets you bookmark Waves which you can then later on list or delete. It uses the following commands – /star’, /list’, and /delete’. To add this gadget to Google Wave, just add starifybot@appspot.com. It could be useful if you’ve created many waves already.

Calcbot

This Wave gadget will come in handy whenever you need to do some simple calculations while in the middle of a conversation inside a wave.  Just add calcbot@appspot.com to your contact list and you’re good to go.

These are just some of the Google Wave gadgets currently available. Using these gadgets on your Google Wave account adds some excitement to Google Wave, especially if you don’t have too many contacts who are in the exclusive circle of early Google Wave users. Smilebox – Add your photos, videos, words, and music and then e-mail, blog, print or burn it to a DVD. Hundreds of templates ensure you’ll get “miles of smiles” from your family and friends.

Kizoa - This slideshow creator is easy to use and produces a nice Flash-based product. My pnly gripe is that it forces your browser window to the max size, and that drives me nuts.

Drupal Sildeshow – Users of this great open source CMS that was recently adopted by the White House, have easy access to turn uploaded images into a JavaScript enabled slideshow.

Dijit – This Web-based widget creator lets you take your own original photo slideshow and post it on your MySpace or Facebook account. You can also allow people to download your goods.

Wix – Taking the legwork out of learning Flash, Wix requires no downloads or programming, and gives the novice a chance to roll out a slick looking slideshow.

Moblyng – A developer of cross-platform games for mobile devices and social networks, the site also features a slideshow creator. Add captions, skins and music to give your photos a unique spin. Grab the embed code and make it mobile.

We get the fact that you are very proud of the great content you have produced and that you want as many people to see it as possible but the fact of the matter is that you are in the same boat as a couple of other million people on the internet looking for traffic. Join the queue and let us decide ourselves what content we like when we see it.

We get it you are busy. So is every other person on the planet right now and if you were that busy you wouldn’t have time to write about it on a micro blogging service to a group of what are mostly strangers.

B&N’s online bookstore has been around for quite some time now, but it only started offering ebook version of commercially published books recently. What’s so good about B&N’s online ebookstore is its tie-up with Apple and RIM for their respective Barnes&Noble mobile phone apps. If you still prefer to read on your PC or Windows machine, you can download B&N’s desktop reader instead.  B&N also offers discount coupons from time to time if you register and agrees to receive updates via email.

Amazon Kindle Books

Amazon’s Kindle Books online store may be the reasonw why the likes of Barnes and Noble and Sony decide to come up with their own ebookstore. The Amazon Kindle Book store supports downloading of ebooks directly to the Amazon Kindle. So, it is a must that you purchase the Amazon Kindle ebook reader. While this is an innovative idea, it may also be the cause of Amazon’s Kindle Book Store downfall. Not everybody have a Kindle Reader and definitely not everyone will want to buy it.

Sony eBook Store

Sony was lucky enough to snag a deal to give access to free public domain books on Google’s Book Service. But apart from public domain books, the Sony eBook Store also lets you purchase books which you can read on your desktop PC or Mac or from your a Sony eBook Reader. The Sony eBook Reader is Amazon Kindle’s fiercest rival to day. So with the launch of the Sony eBook Store, it has finally seal a official rivalry with Amazon.

Taylor & Francis

Features a collection of titles that you can buy in the current popular formats including DX Portable. It also supports ebook formats that can be read through Mobipocket, Microsoft Reader, and Adobe Reader. Taylor & Francis’ ebook collection consists of ebooks from Routledge, Routledge-Cavendish, Garland, CRC Press, Psychology Press and Taylor and Francis.

Cambridge eBookstore

Cambridge University Press’ eBookstore is fairly new so don’t expect the same depth on their ebooks collection as with their catalog of printed books. The ebookstore supports both Microsoft and Adobe Reader formats. You can also download purchased books on your handheld devices provided that it is supported by the ebookstore. This includes the Sony eBook Reader, Iliad ebook reader and more.

Harlequin eBookstore

Harlequin eBookstore also offers ebooks in various formats readable through Adobe Digital Editions, Microsoft Reader and Mobipocket Reader. It allows re-downloading of ebooks you’ve purchased in case you’ve deleted it already on your PC or Mac. What the site didn’t say is whether it supports downloading on a portable ebook reader.

RandomHouse eBookstore

Random House eBookstore sells books online in various ebook formats including – Adobe PDF, Microsoft Reader LIT, Mobipocket PRC, eReader formats for pocket PC, and eBookWise device.

Powell eBookstore

Powell eBookstores supports downloading of their ebooks on various popular ebook readers including the Sony Reader, Astak EZ Reader, BeBook, COOL-ER and more. It supports four formats of ebooks supported by the following readers – Adobe Digital Editions, Microsoft Reader, and Palm Device Reader. It also has DRM-free ebooks in PDF format.

Books on Board

Aside from supporting your usual ebook formats readable in Sony eBook Reader, Cybook/Opus and AzTak EZReader, Books on Board also supports mobile phone devices such as the iPhone, Palm and Blackberry handsets. This is in addition to allowing you to download and read their ebooks on a PC or Mac. Books on Board carry popular bestsellers in their ebook collection.

Camera Bag (Price: $1.99)

This could perhaps be one of the best camera-related iPhone app. It lets you apply effects that mimic old manual cameras including Helga, Fisheye, 1976, Mono, 1974, Infrared, Cinema, Lolo, Instant and 1962. Camera Genius (Price: $0.99)

Next to Camera Bag, Camera Genius is also one of my favorite iPhone camera apps.  This app extends your iPhone cameras functionality with features that you will surely love. It lets you capture group photos through noise or by uttering the word “cheese”. It has anti-shake stabilization that effetively reduces blur in your photos, a timer so that you can join group photos (if you have a dock), camera guides for composing and aligning photos, review button, and a bigger easier to tap photo button. In addition, the app also keeps track of the number of photos you’ve taken.

Lomo Camera (Price: $2.99)

I recently bought Lomo Camera after finding out that Camera Bag didn’t have the lomo effect. It’s a bit pricey compared to other iPhone camera app but hey, getting a Lomo Camera is expensive as well. And this the next best thing to owning such camera actually. What this app does is to let you apply various Lomo Effects to your photos based on the popular LC-A camera.

Toy Camera (Price: $1.99)

Another cool camera-related iPhone app. Toy Camera lets you add effects to your iPhone photos including vintage green, vintage warm, vintage yellow, low saturation, high saturation, toningsepia, Black&White, and HiCon Black&White. The app also lets you set your photo size from 426px to 1600px.

Night Camera (Price: $0.99)

If you find yourself in need of taking snapshot of something at night or in a low-light environment, Night Camera app can help you take decent looking photos using your iPhone camera. While this app may be effective in adding some light to your photos, using it may be a challenge at first since the app utilizes the iPhone’s accelerometer to determine whether your hands are stable and no longer shaking before it takes the shot.

Camera Zoom v1.1 (Price: $0.99)

If a 4x digital zoom-capable camera sounds good to you, well this app does the trick effectively. It’s a simple app made for the simple reason – to let you zoom-in on a subject before taking your shot. As this is for digital zoom only, don’t expect too much high-quality photo output from this app. Just about right for its price.

HDR Camera (Price: $1.99)

If you’re a digital photography enthusiast, you’d know that HDR photography is quite popular among photo enthusiasts today. Producing HDR photos is not easy though even if you have the most powerful photo editing software. If you have an iPhone, all you need is this app and you’ll have HDR photos in an instant.

iPhone Applications for Wireless File Transfer

1) Discover

Discover is amazing! All you have to do to start transfer files from your iPhone to computer is download and install the iPhone app. That’s it! Later you will be able to connect to your iPhone using address that Discover app will generate and you are free to manage and transfer files. You can see how easy it is in the video below. 2) Air Sharing

Air Sharing is another application for wireless file transfer between iPhone and computer. It have a bit more functionality than free Discover application, maybe that’s why it actually costs few dollars. Air Sharing have also PRO version with even more functionality and different features such as file operations (move, copy, paste, folder management), ZIP/UNZIP files, encrypted PDF and many more. Compatible with iPhone and iPod touch.

So far I have used two desktop applications which allows you to transfer files between your computer and iPhone using USB cable.

1) iPhone Browser

iPhone Browser is very powerful desktop application for managing files on iPhone from your PC (yes, it works only on Windows). This app can do many things form simple file transfer to crating backups for your entire iPhone.

2) DiscAid

DiskAid is very intuitive application that creates easy way to transfer files between computer and iPhone. Speaking about supported devices it will work with all versions of iPhone (V1, 3G, 3GS) and iPod Touch V1 and V2. You can use this app for free only 14 days, later it will cost you $9.90.
