First the hard facts. Boxee is a powerful software package that converts computers, Apple TVs and other popular products into media centers. It has been making it possible for users to watch Hulu video content on their TV since October last year. And Boxee users have loved this feature and was even gearing up to improved it some more. But that inevitable happened. Hulu asked Boxee to stop making its content on Boxee TV. This according to Hulu was requested by their content partners.

According to a Boxee blog post, they pleaded the case to Hulu reasoning that users love what they were doing – providing access to Hulu content allowing users to view them on real TV instead of their PC’s LCD. But to no avail. Although Boxee promises to convince Hulu to reconsider the decision and reason out with their content providers.

Of course Boxee’s plea may prove to be futile. After all, Hulu has no control over this content. If the content providers want Boxee’s access turned off, Hulu’s got no choice but to turn it off, lest it want to lose precious video contents from its catalog.

A post at the Hulu blog clearly stated this stand:

we are also steadfast in our belief that the best way to achieve our ambitious, never-ending mission of making media easier for users is to work hand in hand with content owners. Without their content, none of what Hulu does would be possible, including providing you content via Hulu.com and our many distribution partner websites.

And the industry’s reactions were varied. Some hope that this is just a short-term separation and that Hulu would come to terms with its content providers to bring the service back as allowing Boxee to stream Hulu content elevates the viewing experiences of users.

Radar O’Reilly believes that there is a bigger issue behind “content providers” decision to ask Hulu to turn off Boxees access to their contents. And that the bottomline of this is still the long standing history of major studios penchance for rejecting innovation and technology in delivering entertainment to users.

Interestingly, what follows this issue was an announcement from Comcast and Time Warner cable of their new OnDemand Online which is an answer to the threat being posed by online video to cable television.

This issue will surely spread on in the next couple of days, probably until Hulu finds a solution to the users demand and clamor to bring back their content to the Boxee solution. And no matter how Hulu will do this, it better do it fast.

The bottomline still is – users are the one suffering. Users who have no stake over the business maneuverings of the big companies. Users just want some great video viewing experience. And Boxee seems to have been answering this, until this issue erupted.

The so called Hulu “content providers” just need to read the reactions coming out from both the Hulu and Boxee blog post to see the reason why they should reconsider their decision.

Amidst the frenzy in the ongoing CES event at Las Vegas which are dominated primarily by consumer electronics companies, MySpace was able to get some mileage thanks to its partnership with Intel, Yahoo and Toshiba. The deal will bring the MySpace experience on your TV sets, thanks to Yahoo’s Connected TV service and Toshiba which will be the first to showcase the MySpace TV Widget on their new products.

MySpace TV is being developed on Widget Channel, a new TV application which is being co-developed by Intel and Yahoo. This will allow you to do your MySpace activities directly from your TV as well as receive updates from your MySpace network.

Specifically, MySpace TV Widget

Receive Friend Updates

Read and respond to Messages

Receive Friend Request notifications

See friends’ Status and Mood updates

Publish personal Status and Mood updates

Browse photos

Browse profiles

The MySpace TV Widget will consist of the MySpace TV Dock which will contain links to the “My Profile”, “Messages”, “Friend Requests” and “Status Updates” channel of your MySpace account, and the MySpace Sidebar which will be displayed on your TV screen.

Once the MySpace Sidebar is displayed, you can then interact with the MySpace environment and lets you navigate all functionality of the widget in an organized, familiar and friendly way.

To use the MySpace TV, you need to have access to your MySpace ID and of course the Toshiba TV which is the first to carry the said feature. Hopefully, other TV manufacturers will get the MySpace TV Channel too. Unless of course the idea of social networking on your TV screen does not appeal to you.

As if there isn’t enough on TV for reality shows, there is now a Website dedicated solely for news about the reality TV shows. Further, if you have always wanted to BE a reality TV star, this Website helps you get there. (May God help you.)Reality Wanted has a listing of the latest casting calls for reality TV shows and even produces its own reality TV shows. If you would prefer to just read about your favorite shows, there is a section for news updates on virtually every reality show that has been produced with all seasons. It could at least save you a lot of time that would have otherwise been spent lounged out in front of the TV.

For the true reality TV junkies, this Website has everything you could want. It offers a free membership with limited capabilities and then the option to upgrade to partake in the full list of options. Whether you just want to catch up on reality TV, learn how to be a reality TV star, or actually get your start as a reality TV star in one of their shows, this website has it all. Start practicing on being either really obnoxious or make up a fictional dark past to get your 15 minutes of fame.

In a world where weight loss has become a national sport, I’m sure Reality Wanted will do quite well.

It means that gamers will not be able to publish game walk-throughs, game strategy videos, depictions of player vs player battles, raids, fraps, or any other video gaming videos.

I actually can understand why they are doing this and, how you can read at their blog, reasons are two:

1. The main idea of Vimeo is “creative expression” and gaming videos just don’t stick to it;

2. Gaming videos are significantly larger than videos where you can see some form of “creative expression” (which makes me feel a bit sad);

So, basically if you are true gamer you need to search for alternative ways to share your gaming videos. I agree that Vimeo maybe isn’t the right place for such content and participating in other communities that are more gaming related can bring you much more fun.

Speaking about gaming communities there are one exelent site – GameVee.com! It is gamers community where you can share your gaming videos and communicate with peopple that have the same desire. I belive that GameVee isn’t only site for a gamers – If you can suggest some other alternatives your comments are always appreciated.

My relationship with Netflix has blossomed over the years. We started out like most relationships: hot and heavy. Then out of nowhere, Blockbuster Online entered the room, looking hot and smelling nice. So I dumped Netflix…only to crawl back several months later.

Since that pivotal point, our relationship has not been without its ups and downs (Yes, I returned The Departed – don’t ask me again!), but for the most part, it’s been good times.

Now Netflix wants to take things to the next level and move in. And I’m ready to make a copy of my key.

Netflix Roku, a $100 set top box, will stream free movies right to my TV as part of my $18 a month subscription. (Does that make this prostitution?)

Don’t expect to find new releases, but you can watch 10,000 older titles.

The move will surely force the hands of greedy cable companies to up their offerings. It’s not longer enough to re-run Three Men and a Little Lady 24/7.

I’m not the only one in love. Netflix currently has 8 million lovers.

Honey, it might be time to get tested.

By now you may have probably read several coverage about the coolest thing to hit the web 2.0 sphere since, well Sezmi. Offering a complete TV 2.0 experience, Sezmi is set to revolutionize the way we watch TV programs, that is how we want it, when we want it or what is commonly known as on-demand TV viewing. Some soothsayers are already saying that Sezmi could be the start of something big, and we couldn’t agree more. After taking a look at Sezmi’s site, we found six reasons why Sezmi is the start of the next generation of TV Viewing.

Sezmi offers a complete TV 2.0 solution in one simple package that includes broadcast and cable network programming, movies, and Internet video.

Sezmi is optimized for on-demand viewing by embracing the migration of consumer TV viewing away from the traditional appointment-based viewing experience and gives consumers the flexibility to watch TV programs the way they want it, when they want it. It simplifies the browsing and discovery of television content.

Sezmi integrates live, stored, on-demand and internet video by removing the artificial barrier between content and sources and providing a single and consistent interface across live, stored, on-demand and internet video.

Sezmi is personalized and tailored to individual viewer with a unique remote control for individual members of the household. Similar to a start-up page or social network, each member of the household will have their personalized homepage-like screen where they can organize TV content that they preferred and specified.

Sezmi extends the benefits of social networking to the TV market by allowing subscribers to share playlists with their friends and family, participate in community ratings of TV shows as well as get good recommendations from other subscribers on TV shows they have already watched. This, I must admit is one cool feature of Sezmi.

Sezmi was designed for self-installation with simple, out-of-the-box wireless product that consumers can setup in a matter of minutes.

If those six reasons are not enough to convince you that Sezmi is the next big thing, then check out the Sezmi site for some more details. But I’m telling you, once Sezmi goes into full blast, it going to create a buzz of “Sezmi-c” proportion.

Videos are viewable without having to leave Mefeedia.com. Registered users can stay updated by subscribing to their favorite feeds or by aggregating a collection of feeds to their iPod or PSP.

A social networking element is introduced with the “What I’m Watching” section. Here’s your chance to share your personalized video channel with the world.
Speaking of filtering, video search can be narrowed down by date, related terms, show or by vertical category.

Users can create a collaborative video collection on just about any topic. Current popular examples include Tech Geek Girls, Second Life Tutorials and Vlog Cookbook.

Vertical video search joins TV Search, Music Search, and Podcast Search to round out the Mefeedia product. When searching specifically for one of my podcasts, I couldn’t help but notice the feed information was not current update. Despite dozens of other Websites picking up my updated RSS feed, Mefeedia is showing me over-a-year-old results.

Video search is currently in beta, as the company continues to index.

Mefeedia currently is receiving several million visitors a month, proclaiming they are the best place to discover great videos, TV, Web series, and music. What do you think?

Over a year ago, Maris broadcast that Current TV is where online TV is at! Now, with some major improvements under their belt – the site is hotter than ever – with impressive Alexa traffic data to back it up.In 2005 Current TV made a splash with it’s unique concept of user-generated content. By regularly featuring “content that matters,” the site has resonated with youth around the globe, leveling the journalism playing field.

Based around the concept of “pods” (narrative videos that are generally a few minutes long), Current continues to “democratize the media.”

Part of what has given Current a second life are the community features they’ve build into the mix. Videos, articles and images can be shared with friends and voted on. Also, you can embed any single pod, uploaded video or Viewpoints recording.

Everyone is looking for their 15 minutes of fame on the Web. Current lets you double your chances by not only making you a “star” on the Internet – but on old school television as well.

It would be impossible to write about Current without mentioning one-time American presidential candidate Al Gore. Yes, he is the chairman of the company. But that does not mean the entire site is all global warming all of the time. In fact, while politics do make up the majority of content, it’s clear that both sides get a voice. And that my friends is what democracy is all about.

Searching where to watch online Premier League and UEFA Champions League games I found several interesting posts/guides of how to make it possible to see these games online for free. You can check out this nice guide of using SopCast which is one of the most popular tools to stream TV online using p2p technology.

But unfortunately using SopCast isn’t enough to watch all leagues and all your favorite sports. That’s why I searched a little bit deeper and found this site where you can find all major leagues in many different sports together with link to service which provide possibility to watch current game online for free.

Including football you can search also for NHL, NBA, MLB, NFL/NCAA and other sports there and find best way how to watch them online without spending a cent!

To better understand the service you can go to the site and give a try, but how Mesmo.tv CEO Davin T.
And, yes – with the growing popularity of Facebook you can add Mesmo.tv to this socilal network already. To use this app on Facebook go here.

More than a month ago Mashable! published a post where was compared YouPorn and PornoTube two most popular clones of YouTube for adults and now looks like in this race the leading position have been changed.

No doubt that this kind of content is one of the most searched online and these sites are brilliant examples of how to turn that all in river of money. How you can see adult sites also are experiencing major changes and going to be Pornography 2.0 – easy adoptable ideas from Web 2.0 to pornography business. A tons of visitors are browsing these websites and the graph shows that the increase of traffic is amazing. Here is nice video where you can see some stats of this industry – I was a bit surprised about these numbers. Speaking more – there websites is also a nice example on how to turn web projects into dynamic/social sites and what boost of traffic you get if you do it right. Adding possibility to rate, comment, add and share content together with other social features you can turn the whole thing into community that is growing rapidly. Actually we can learn much from analyzing how to change things to be modern and successful online for this industry and also for many others it is very important to follow latest tendencies and if you want to be always well informed subscribe to our feed because we are giving you latest news about new and innovative projects, directions and ideas.

I think since success of YouTube there is no question that people like user created content. Current.TV is a nice example that in satellite and cable TV this idea can be successful as well. Current TV is on the air since August 1 2005 and about third of the channel is created by viewers who submit their videos.

The system how it works is pretty known and simple – users create few minutes long videos and submit them to Current.tv. Then all online community of Current TV is voting for the best stories which later are going to be on TV. You can see Current TV on such cable and satellite channels: DirectTV, Dish Network, Sky Digital, Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Charter, Cox, Virgin Media.

I think it is great idea to offer viewers possibility to choose what they want to see on TV. Also TV gets their benefits – viewers will see on their channel what they like so possibility that they stay loyal to TV channel is much higher. And not only that – TV even receive material to broadcast from the viewers – isn’t it great!

If you think that such model generates crap on TV – you are wrong. There is really great videos to watch and many subjects of “pods” is very interesting for me and I think for many of you also. It can be similar to blogs – there is professional content written by journalists and there is simple people who write their thoughts and opinions of different problems. There are many sides of every story and maybe thoughts of guy next door is much closer to my point of view.

The idea of StumbleVideo is very similar to StumbleUpon – watch the videos and rate positive or negative if you like it or not. Ratings are used to search for videos you might like. It also show other users which liked this clip. StumbleVideo offer also opportunity to search videos using channels like sports, music, art atc. Option that is very helpful is history tab, where you can see previously watched videos.

I was testing the StumbleVideo before I wrote this article and one thing I can tell for sure – take couple free hours! :)
