Top 10 Best Games for Google Android

For those of us living in an Apple-free free world (I’m not embarrassed to admit it!), the advent of the Android operating system is making us feel technologically competitive.

The Android Market has a loooong way to go, but the app offerings are improving every day.  As of today, here are my personal game picks for Android devices.  Head over to the Android Market on your device to purchase/acquire.

Aevum Obscurum

Risk- like game that takes you back to medieval times to fight over the control of Europa. This turb-by-turn game will be great relaxation for all strategy fans out there.

You get 30-50 empires to choose from and start conquer the whole map. The best think is that you can try this game for free and if you want more action you can purchase it for $ 4.99 USD

Radiant

Radiant fills the void that Space Invaders left behind.  It’s a classic old-school gaming experience – Asteroids meets Space Invaders – but features gorgeously bright graphics.

The aliens are coming and you are Max Blaster, last line of defense to save the planet.

Game play is challenging and the storyline is fun.  Upgrade weapons and enhance your ship as you defeat bosses at each level.

The game gives the player many control options.  Use the touchscreen, trackball or 1 and 0 buttons to move your ship.

A great game to kill some time when you’re waiting in line.  The Lite version is free and the paid version will set you back $2.40USD.

OMG did you hear who so-and-so is dating/dumping?  The more dour among us say that celebrity gossip is superficial, trivial and meaningless.  Why should we care about the sex lives and vacation pictures of celebrities?

Well Mr. Boring, STFU!  We all have guilty pleasures.  So what if they are rooted in the destruction of other people’s lives!  Heck, they get paid inordinate sums of money; so we have the ‘right’ to watch them rise and fall under the media microscope.

To get your celebrity fix, check out these hot gossip sites: Continue reading: 9 Gossip Sites to Keep Up With Celeb Gossip

Throwing a Party? 9 Free Online Invitation Websites

You mean people still actually get together?  I thought all human interaction was moved online!  If you still like the company of other two-legged mammals, and are thinking of having a New Year’s Eve party, there are several great Websites that allow you to invite your guests.

Planning a party is hard work.  From music to snacks to drinks, you’ll have plenty to do – so invitations should be the last of your worries.

eviteEvite – Evite has been the default party invitation service for years, and it’s terrible.  The invitation does not have the address of the party, forcing you to click on the site, where you are bombarded by ads.  What else is out there?

pinggPingg - Puts all the info you need in beautifully designed emails, and lets you RSVP directly from the website.  For a few bucks you can send postcards or even text messages to your guests as well.  Easy to use, good looking site.

mypunchMyPunchBowl – A clean site that gives you all the basic functionality and allows you to text invites.  The cool feature is that yo can let the guests vote on the start time and see how they respond.  If 10pm gets more votes than 9pm, you know when to start the party.  You can also upload photos and send them around afterward as an after party feature.  Depending on the party hijinks this may or may not be a good idea for you. The Google Phone Has Arrived

google_phoneThe much-anticipate Google Phone, aka Nexus One, is here.  You might not be able to purchase one yet, but bloggers are beginning to get their hands on the device as Google employees have begun leaking photos and information about the celly.

Rumored to be available in January ‘10, the Google Phone will be sold online and will be totally unlocked, therefore not tethering users to a specific wireless carrier.

Developed in collaboration with HTC, (quite possibly the fastest-growing company in the mobile sector), expectations are high for the device.

It is important to remember that the Google Phone comes out of the gate with the advantage of the Google name, but the disadvantage of being over 100,000 apps behind the still popular iPhone.  Also, without a link to a major wireless carrier, the phone might take more time to be as widespread as the iPhone or the Droid.
